Me, wheeeee. Not a clerk, but a former clerk in a government gig (haven't even got my first paycheck yet). I guess technically it's better to be "excepted" rather than non-excepted, because while the latter get time off, the former are supposed to get paid for the work eventually.

I still think someone will blink, though.

Per a memo circulated by the Administrative Office last week, the courts will continue operations with no cutbacks until October 15, using funds from fees and elsewhere. After that, personnel essential to fulfill the courts' constitutional obligations (which probably includes clerks) are required to work for free (but will be paid retroactively once Congress removes its thumb from its ass), while other personnel will be furloughed. Whee!

Shutdown is gonna happen. It's now just a question of how long it will last.

The last 'guaranteed' paycheck cleared this weekend (regardless of whether you continue working past the shutdown)...wheeee!

Does the court having money for 10 days include paying us next week?

I think everyone should get paid for this week, and after that is when it starts to vary by court. But I could be wrong.
