Gruender is either done or has 1 spot left. Shepherd is interviewing. Benton claims to be sticking to the plan.

I believe that Loken hasn't started interviewing in earnest yet and that Murphy is just about done (might have one spot left but it's unlikely).

Nice email from Benton's chambers saying he's done. 500+ applications for 3 openings.

Jesus.

My "nice" email from his chambers had my name butted right up against the salutation: "DearAnonymous." Yes, so much care and thought in the mailmerge...

500+ seems way low for COA, even if it's 8th Cir.

Still, 0.006% of applicants will get hired. In Kansas City. Fierce.

Received a N.D. Ill. rejection that stated 700+ apps for 2 spots. That's .00285%. I might ask, what's the difference? And then I do the math: that 8th cir. app was 110% "better." I'll go read absurdist poetry now...

Are these #s for on-plan judges who stuck to the June 28 deadline, or were they off-plan who were accepting earlier? I've heard of hundreds of apps for on-plan judges, but have no clue what the #s are for flyovers who are off-plan.

I'm near the top of the class at the best school in the area (take that however you will) and had 3 people working on him for me. Nothing. It's just rough out there if you aren't top 10% at HYS.
