Just got a call a couple of days asking if I was able to come interview for Judge Jones (2021-22 term). I have already accepted another clerkship so I had to decline.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2020 2:55 pmBefore, I got a month confirming receipt of application a few months after I sent it and then an email saying I was rejected (no interview). Also indicated that she was full.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2020 8:31 pmI have not, but I gave up hope of hearing anything from her a long time ago. Was this before or after interviewing?

Thanks for the 2021 Jones update!
Anyone heard whether Jones has moved for 2022. Also interested in new updates for Clement, Elrod, Graves, or Wilson for 2022?

Who has not moved for 2022–23? Particularly interested in the Texas judges.
It seems that Oldham, Willett, and Elrod have already hired for 2022–23.
Does anyone have information re: Owen, Ho, Haynes, Costa, or Jones?

I think that Haynes finished hiring for 2022-23/4 (and OSCAR shows her 2022 positions as filled and 2023 as available).Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Oct 22, 2020 10:57 amWho has not moved for 2022–23? Particularly interested in the Texas judges.

Re: Let's talk 5th Circuit!
Anyone have an idea whether Willett would be open to hiring counterclerks? I'm a lib at a school he's hired from with very competitive grades and a very strong Texas connection; looks like he's turned out to be one of the most all-around respectable Trump appointees, and I'm considering throwing in the application. Also, have his chambers moved from Austin to NOLA? The OSCAR posting seems to imply that.

I saw this question posted and I didn't see an answer. I'm going to be clerking on a district court in TX and interested to see if that gives me any advantages in applying to the 5th Circuit?Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Feb 25, 2015 12:47 amAnonymous User wrote:All three have been hiring.
+1 also heard this.
On another note, anyone know to what extent a district court under the 5th Circuit advantages you in getting a 5th Circuit position the subsequent year (if at all)?

Re: Let's talk 5th Circuit!
I believe that Judge Haynes generally hires ND Tex clerks. I'd expect it to be a benefit for many of the judges though. Costa and Smith do not consider double clerks.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Fri Mar 26, 2021 9:55 pmI saw this question posted and I didn't see an answer. Re: Let's talk 5th Circuit!
People applying to district courts in Texas may find some bar association surveys helpful. Lawyers in Dallas really like Lynn and Fitzwater and don't like Lindsay on ND Tex.

Houston also has them for SD Tex. Rosenthal is off the charts, Atlas, Ellison, Lake are very popular, Gilmore, Hittner, Hoyt, and obviously Hughes performed poorly.

Yeakal and Pitman were the standouts on the Austin Bar Association's poll for the Austin part of WD Tex.

Costa is apparently in oral arguments and plans to post on OSCAR later this week or next.
