Do you think I would risk being isolated in a one bedroom on Arlington and that would be worth paying more to live in a bit nicer apartment/be where the social situation would be best?
I'd go with the Arlington room but that's just me. It's still close to Ivy and the $200 a month translates to a saving of $2,400 a year (which is enough to cover utilities and cable/internet).

Anyone living in Copeley? It seems incredibly cheap ($1060 for a 3BR, or $350 per person, with utilities included)...am I reading this right?

Don't you have to have a family or something to live there?firstimer wrote:Anyone living in Copeley? It seems incredibly cheap ($1060 for a 3BR, or $350 per person, with utilities included)...am I reading this right?

Housing isn't like an undergrad dorm, you don't really go around an apartment complex meeting people. You meet people at school and then go over to their place. Arlington is like a 10-15 min walk from Ivy.djlmjs22 wrote:Thanks, I agree and think ill take the cheaper place, I just hope it won't impact making friends.shadowofjazz wrote:"Live like a lawyer in law school and you'll live like a law student when you're a lawyer."djlmjs22 wrote:I need to chose between a 1 bedroom/den on Arlington right near the Pavilion and Jeffersonian or a one bedroom/den in Ivy Gardens. And a two minute walk to the law school. Seriously, Arlington is convenient as shit.5ky wrote:Housing isn't like an undergrad dorm, you don't really go around an apartment complex meeting people. Yeah it's family housing. For the 3BRM priority is given to families with at least 2 kids.North wrote:Don't you have to have a family or something to live there?firstimer wrote:Anyone living in Copeley? So I'm trying to wait until Late May-Early June to sign a lease in case a WL miracle happens. Is this a poor decision? I'm hoping to find 1-2 roommates at either Ivy or the Pavillion, and I don't want to be stuck out in the cold paying more than I should for a 1br.

The Pavilion will more than likely be booked up by then, it may even be now!RSterling wrote:So I'm trying to wait until Late May-Early June to sign a lease in case a WL miracle happens. I figured that. My hope for P was that someone on the fb group would be looking for a roommate. I almost prefer Ivy because I could go without the fancy amenities and Pavillion charges an extra 50 bucks a month for parking.Mack12 wrote:The Pavilion will more than likely be booked up by then, it may even be now!RSterling wrote:So I'm trying to wait until Late May-Early June to sign a lease in case a WL miracle happens. I guess my main question is whether there will still be people looking for a roommate in Late May/Early June.

I think you'll be okay. There was even someone on the facebook group that was giving up their apartment at the Jeffersonian not too long ago. Keep an eye on Craigslist/TLS/Facebook. Worse comes to worse you can always sleep in the law library.RSterling wrote:So I'm trying to wait until Late May-Early June to sign a lease in case a WL miracle happens. Is this a poor decision? Someone in P (i.e. me) is still looking for a roommate. You can start moving forward on it without even having to commit thanks to the way the leasing works. And I wouldn't care because the rooms are leased separately - meaning I don't have to desperately search to fill it or be on the hook for the $$$.RSterling wrote:I figured that. Re: UVA Class of 2016
Hey there, 0Ls.
I am a 3L at UVA getting ready for graduation. I have a Jeffersonian apartment full of furniture that I'd love to get off my hands. Here's a list (prices negotiable). I bought all of the furniture new, and it has been gently used for 2-3 years. PM me for photos.
NOTE: You wouldn't have to move the furniture now; my lease lasts until July 31, so you can pick it up any day before then.
1. Kitchen Table & 4 Chairs (Oak, Rectangular): $175
2. Couch (Brown): $300.00
3. Living Room Coffee Table (Black, Wood): $75
4. Cubbie Bench (Black, Wood; matches coffee table): $75
5. Office Desk (Glass & Wood): $85
6. Bookcase (3-Shelf, Cherry, Wood): $25
7. Nightstand (Black, Wood): $25
8. Kitchen Baker's Rack (Oak, Metal): $80.00

Posting this here as well as the admissions thread:
Spoke to Dean Richard. She said that currently there was no more money available for additional awards and that they're sending out new awards as money shakes loose (people withdrawing, etc.) She also said that currently they're trying to spread out awards to people who currently don't have any rather than increase people who are seeking additional awards.

Does anyone know the process of becoming a VA resident? Seems to be worth it to lower tuition $15K
