I'm visiting UM next week so I guess I'll ask them while I'm there. I'll report back. I'm moving from NJ.

Yeah lol. When you walk from the Student Union to the gym, it wraps around the water and there's alligators. I think there may be a sign too.

Yes, apparently multiple and walking the streets. For some reason they don't include that in the brochure.

Whats up C.O. 2015!? Just checking in and seeing who all is going to be attending the ASD coming up. I'm sure you all received the same e-mail that contained info and I was wondering if anyone will be attending the deans day on the Thursday prior or has any information on what it is all about?

Just got my acceptance. UM is on top of my list so far, but not sure if I'll be able to make the ASD with such short notice.

Does any one know whats up with schollys?

Scholly's have been cashed for a while now... they might give some more out as people with them withdraw, but that is TBD.

If you ask for one, they will just tell you they are out of funds. Just gotta wait I suppose.

Not exactly sure what it's all about, but I'll be there!

For those of you who are definitely attending, where do you plan to live? Not necessarily specific buildings or anything... I just mean general areas. I've heard a lot of good things about Brickell.

I am looking at Brickell as well... as well as Kendall/Dadeland and Gables. Brickell is the nicest, but naturally also the most expensive. Gables is closes to Campus, and Kendall/Dadeland seems to be the cheapest.

I really haven't looked into Kendall/Dadeland, but I've looked at a ton of Brickell condos online and you can easily do a 2br for around $2000 or a 3br around $3000... So about $1000 per person. Not horrible.

$1000 a person seems expensive to me... but i guess im used to living where there is a super low COL. So maybe not.

I've also been looking into Brickwell. Seems like the most popular among law students, but I'm still looking into other areas.

Yeah, it is definitely expensive. I didn't mean to imply that it wasn't. I'm paying $300 per month in Tallahassee right now, so moving to Miami would be a huge change. Any idea on what rent would be in other areas?

$1000 in Miami is average. I wouldn't expect to live somewhere decent in Miami for less than that.

I'm not sure if you caught it or not but I was speaking on $1000 for just renting a room out with roommates. That's average?

Since we're on the topic of housing, I just visited the campus and met with a real estate agent last week. The rental process takes over a month. For instance, looking now would almost be too late for a May 1st move in. The agent told me that looking for an apartment for July 1st is much easier than August 1st. I agree with the Kendall idea. You get much more for your money than say Coral Gables or Brickell. Anyway, I loved the campus and the surrounding area. Coming back to Jersey was very depressing - where are the palm trees???
