I'm not, although my parents really wanted to come. I'm bringing my SO instead since he might be moving up there with me. I read elsewhere that it's better to have your parents visit you another time so that you will be able to socialize more, but that probably applies mostly to helicopter type parents.msblaw89 wrote:Is anyone bringing a parent to the ASW?

Yeah, don't bring your parents. I brought a parent to an ASW last year-- people looked at me weird. Oh well. Live and learn.sf88 wrote:I'm not, although my parents really wanted to come. Re: Cornell Law Class of 2015
Hey y'all checking in.
I'm in at GULC and Cornell, still waiting on Penn. If Penn doesn't work out, I'm probably gonna end up at Cornell. It's smaller, has better placement, and I think I'd actually like the intense winter/small town thing.
Anywho, two questions: I just got in about a week ago. I assume the financial aid deadlines are extended for us late admits, but has anyone got any kind of confirmation of this?
And housing. I don't want to live on campus; I want a house with like 3 housemates. I agree with whoever said living with strangers can add to 1L stress, but I figure we'll be studying way too much to get on each others' nerves. Also, I pride myself on my ability to have fun with most anyone.
Does anyone else plan on living in a house? I would even consider Collegetown, which supposedly is a shitshow.

i may be interested. a friend and i are both admitted, and if we both choose to attend we would probably be interested in getting a third roommate to help us keep costs down. we're both guys btw. assuming you are too.QueMellow wrote: And housing. It looks like Cornell has recently started updating their employment stats page. I don't want to out myself so you can PM me if you want more details but I've had some bizarre exchanges with them over the lack of detail in their employment stats (easily the least detailed in the T14). Hopefully the new stats will be very thorough.

I'm currently choosing between GULC and Cornell as well, but may be leaning toward Cornell after I visit in April Definitely looking for some chill people to live with my 1L year. Currently live in NYC with 2 other guys. If anyone else is looking for roomies, let me know.QueMellow wrote:I am, cool. Curious if any of you might be able to answer these questions or point me in the right direction...
1. Do any Chicago firms recruit at Cornell? I know Cornell is NYC focused and most Big Law jobs are in NYC as is, but wondering if Big Law in Chicago from Cornell is possible.
2. Anyone know what % of 2Ls landed firm jobs last summer, how about the summer before? There seems to be a solid correlation between these numbers and the NLJ250, so I'm trying to get a rough idea of what NLJ number we might be able to expect next year (or at least higher/lower etc).

if you had to guess, what percentage of the class would you say seriously pursues firm jobs for the 2L summer?Arbiter213 wrote:1. Yes.Betharl wrote:Curious if any of you might be able to answer these questions or point me in the right direction...

Depends on who the bottom halfers are. If you're a URM it's a lot less bleak, you know?Mr. Somebody wrote:Any thoughts on what happens to the bottom half? Kill self?Arbiter213 wrote:1. only 26 days left until the first deposit is due!
also, for those waiting for their financial aid notifications: seems like the 2014'ers heard around march 30th. just looked through their thread a little bit.
