What's the obsession with "big law?" Is it because you think you'll make a lot of money? Is it because you simply do whatever you're paid to do, i.e. hired gun? What kind of "big law" are you looking for? Is that civil, corporate, criminal...?

so far as I can tell, there are only a very few actual reasons for interest in biglaw, at least for students.

-money and perceived prestige/peer pressure
-the convenience of OCI so you can avoid the stress of a real job search
-the myth of the "sophisticated biglaw" shangri-la where associates blissfully bill 2400 hours
-"exit opportunities"

I was watching the movie And Justice for All, and I think the best way to describe shit law would be what Warren in the movie called "Nickel and Dime" law.

But I think there is something appealing about being a people's lawyer rather than working for the corporations.

Well, if you can leave law school with less than 30k debt then I wouldn't be too worried about not making 160K.
