Do I *really* need to be on Law Review?

Bluebooking during the law review write-on has made me want to jump off a cliff. How bad will it look if I don’t do law review? Not planning to clerk or try for academia. Hoping to do public interest litigation long-term (though maaaybe biglaw litigation for a couple of years after graduation). Median grades at HYS so far, though to be safe, let’s assume I’ll end up slightly below median.

Most public interest jobs would much rather you see do a clinic/externships related to their mission than law review.
That said, I also don’t think the experience of doing law review is much like the experience of doing the write-on, though that can vary depending on the school.

If you don't care about clerking or academia then don't do it. There's a small chance down the line that someone else will care but the odds of that are low.
