Lateraling from CHI to NYC (transactional)

Post by bluelawsf » Sat Jan 09, 2021 2:02 pm

I know that typically you should take the bar in the market where you want to practice.
I also know that it is easier to lateral from NYC to another market than vice versa.

However, if your best offers were hypothetically from Kirkland or Sidley CHI (transactional), would that prestige be enough where if you wanted to you could potentially lateral to NYC biglaw after a few years?

No problems with staying in CHI if lateraling doesn't work out. Just want to know if there is the option.
