IP Course Syllabi

Post by a.williams » Tue Jan 14, 2020 12:45 am

Hoping to crowd source some syllabi to help structure some post-law school self study. If anyone has a syllabus they’d be willing to share from a course (introductory or upper elective) on patent, trademark, or copyright law it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Outlines are admittedly different from syllabi, but they are directly informed by a syllabi, so they aren't that different. You can easily google outlines in each of those topics that require minimal supplementation based on recent precedent because none of those practice areas have experienced seismic change, although there is plenty that is unsettled, but no syllabus would help rectify that lack of settled law.

Trying googling "[IP protection] outline" and see what you can find. Read those outlines and recognize where you might need to supplement (such as understanding Star Athletica affected the current conception of copyrights in product design). You'll find that most of the precedent in all three areas remain in effect because the cases relevant to those areas were decided 50-100 years ago and still hold force.
