Recruiting Committee?

Post by LawSchoolLA23 » Sat Jul 20, 2019 3:34 pm

I’ve been doing pre-oci interviews in LA. What does it mean if an attorney I meet with is on the recruiting committee? Does this mean they are part of the hiring decision?

Probably?

Assume everyone you interact with is part of the hiring decision.

Thanks! I plan on doing that. Just wanted to figure out if some people had more influence than others.

Assume that all of your interactions with all attorneys are reported to the hiring committee. If you impress a hiring partner that's a good sign, but don't expect it to push you through the process.

What about associates? If I am interviewing with an associate, will their feedback be taken into consideration?

Again, always assume the answer is yes.

Hell, if you meet a kindly old woman outside the firm who asks you for directions, assume that her feedback will be taken into consideration. The fact that you keep asking makes me think that you were a dick to an associate, which is not something you should do. Just be a decent human being to everyone you meet, and don't spend time thinking about who was the most "important" interview. You'll probably guess wrong.
