Either one will work for what you need to do during school, and yes a 13' is just fine. I have a 13' Macbook air and it's perfect, I also love how light it is!

Do you need an internet machine? Go with the air. Size doesn't matter.
Do you need a computer capable of running VMs, photoshop, etc? Go with the MBP. You know what size you need.

I got the 13 inch Pro at the beginning of 1L. No complaints at all. Probably could have gotten by with the Air, but I didn't want to stress about it being able to handle the exam software (even though it probably wouldn't be an issue at all).

I do live multitrack audio recording editing and processing thru several DAWs, constant photoshop and lightroom editing, and video editing on my 13" macbook air that's about as light and thin as a file folder.
I guarantee you will not come close to making an mba sweat at any time.
Except for editing 4k video in programs optimized for multiple cores, the mba will actually perform noticeably faster than most other computers while doing anything short of that.
Are you into car analagies? It's like choosing between a Porsche Boxster and a Lamborghini Aventador. The lambos heavier, more expensive, and it's more powerful engine will get you around the Nuremberg ring faster... but as a daily driver in traffic or going thru parking lots with speed bumps the Boxster can actually get you there quicker most of the time.

The MBA is actually MORE expensive given even vaguely comparable SSD capacity. (And I think the driving the Nuremberg ring is just doing laps around the Palace of Justice where Herman Goerring stood trial.)

lol MBP isn't exactly a high powered workhorse either.Chris4943 wrote: Except for editing 4k video in programs optimized for multiple cores, the mba will actually perform noticeably faster than most other computers while doing anything short of that.

Get the MBP for the sick screen. It's 2016. Nobody should be using a computer with shit-tier resolution like the MBA
