Were you allowed to bring outline into 1L courses?

Hey all,

I heard the other day that some schools allow 1Ls to bring outlines into core 1L bar courses. I was surprised to hear this, as I was under the impression the ABA precluded any "open book" exams on bar courses.

If you were allowed, where?

All my 1L courses were open book. That's extremely common. The ABA doesn't ban it.

Are you willing to say where you went to school, A. Nonny?

Lower T1. But I don't think I've known anyone at any school who had all closed book exams in 1L classes. One or two, maybe - it's at the prof's discretion.

Some of mine were open, some were closed. Depended on the professor.

I go to Georgetown. A few were take home, the rest were open book, with one banning commercial outlines.

I have one course that's closed book, another limited to a 10 page outline. The rest are pretty much use whatever you created.
I'm @ a middle T1

Yeah, no doubt. Just a lot of information to force into one's brain.

Where does it ever say that ABA prohibits open book exams for 1L core courses? FWIW, only one of my 1L exams at Harvard was a closed book test.
