Hello,
Wondering if anyone has experience or knowledge on this issue: is it possible to actually transfer into another law school at the conclusion of your first semester as a 2L?
Thanks

Not possible. Gotta be a 1L or equivalent of 1L credits if you're part-time

You can be a 3L visiting student somewhere if need be.

This is not technically true, but it is effectively the case. For example, Chicago allows students with more than 1 year of grades to apply as a transfer,
if they secure prior approval
and they spend at least two years at Chicago (making law school >3 years). This must be a tiny loophole, but the possibility is not absolutely foreclosed.
The more you know.

There are ABA requirements about how many units you earn at your "core" degree-granting institution. So usually you can visit away as a 3L, but you can't split 2L, because you need to have 2 years worth of credits from one institution. Hope this helps.
