What is the best method to study for Civil Procedure? Does anyone have thoughts or want to share tips?

I've made an outline and flash cards for BBL.

Our professor hasn't released exam format yet. Might be a combo of essay and multiple choice.

Religiously read Freer. It's the best thing you can do after studying your notes and outlining your casebook.

I have EE Civil Procedure by Glannon, but my professor has only covered pleading, discovery, case management. Not finding Glannon useful since it seems like the topics we did are lightly covered or very different than what we did.

My professor has a lot of practice experience, but I don't think he's very good at teaching or conveying the material.

Any other advice?

My class started the same, but it quickly turned into personal jurisdiction, SMJ, and Erie where Freer will be invaluable.

freer is the only reason i did well in civ pro
if your prof hides the ball, it's an absolute must-have
the e&e is ok
if u get a ton of joinder shit, cali is helpful

I have access to Themis from school with video lectures, but I don't find them useful since most of the information hasn't been covered in my class. The K lectures were great with Professor Geis.

Is it worth it to pay for Barbi access to watch the Freer lectures?

almost all law schools give their students access to CALI. email your librarian and they will give you a code.

Just BUY it. I can't overemphasize how amazing Freer's book is. Some of my fondest 1L memories included late nights with Freer. Before Freer I used to worry about getting the lowest grade in the class. After Freer Civ Pro was my best class.

Acing Civ Pro has a really good outline on Jx.

I'd check that out. When you see the whole picture, civ pro isn't too bad as is however.

The Aspen Student Treatise Series

Take this with a grain of salt because I was in the evening division during my first year, so I was on the curve against other people who worked full-time. But, the only thing I did to study for civ pro was listen to the barbri audio lecture and make flash cards of different rules. I made my outline from the lecture and listened through it a couple of times. I never once did a practice exam, or anything substantial beyond that and I CALI'd the class with relative ease.

went ahead and got this Freer Aspen book and wow i actually am enjoying Civ Pro.

now a better question is...do i need the E&E too for Civ Pro?? or is this Freer Aspen book pretty much the same thing?

It's a book. Just get it.

FWIW, the Glannon E&E isn't bad (professor actually recommended reading it, as well as GTM), but it's limited since they way the course is being taught is similar to yours. Erie is next semester. I've found that working off of outlines from previous students has been helpful in building my own outline and reviewing.

Also, it's just books. Couldn't hurt.

yah its a book...i bought the e-book on amazon and am loving it. i had listened to the first 30% of his barbri lectures last week and thought they were decent...this book though is e-mazing. MUCH more detail than the lecture (this opinion is based off comparing PJ barbri lecture and PJ freer aspen)

no joke this is the first time i've enjoyed reading civ pro all semester...i literally didnt wanna stop reading as he makes things so interesting.

I am still wondering tho if I need to check out the E&E after reading this, or if I should just move onto Acing/Crunch exam prep stuff.

My library has all the EE books on reserve at the reference desk and older edition in the stacks. Before you buy it check to see if they have it and just photo copy whatever you need.

I didn't find EE useful for my class. Maybe it's worth it for the hypos.

The EE book helped me understand new concepts, but I found the hypos too easy to help with exam preparation.
