Non- Law School Journal

Just found out I did not make my law school's journals. However, there is another non-law school journal that I know of, which I do qualify for. Since it is a non- law school journal, it's less prestigious, but is it better to be on a journal than not? Would it boost my resume even though it is not a law school journal? It is a journal focusing on public interest law.

Thanks!

Journals other than law review are rarely important resume boosts. There are two major exceptions:

(1) Almost everyone at your school is on a journal, making it look strange if you're not

or

(2) You have a very thin resume, with nothing else 'legal' to show for your time at law school

As for the journal itself, as long as it's about public interest law, it'd probably check the box, so to speak. Unless it's got a particularly shitty reputation amongst alums from your school, I doubt anyone glancing at your resume would notice or care about the distinction.

If it doesn't use Bluebooking, it seems like a waste of time for a law student....
