Random Question: What do law firms and actual practitioners think about "Above the Law"?

Hey guys. So this is a very random question, but what is the reputation of "Above the Law" among law firms and actual practitioners? I understand that it's on the more lighter side of news/resources, but do people actually take the articles/postings seriously? I saw that the managing editor went to YLS and worked at Wachtell, so kinda spurred my curiosity. Particularly curious about what partners are more likely to think of it.

It's a gossip rag. Sometimes it breaks real stories, sometimes it parrots empty rumors, and sometimes it just farts out idle speculation. Different lawyers probably vary on where they believe the ratio of those 3 come into play, but I don't think anyone particularly pays it much attention on a daily basis unless their firm has deeper issues and a story is breaking.

+1

Firms definitely pay attention to it in as much as they don't want anybody to "make ATL," and I heard lawyers talking about it or saw it open on their computers sometimes, but it's hardly top of the things-to-be-anxious-about list. Except maybe for the folks in recruiting.

As far as I can tell it's basically just 'for teh lolz' for actual attorneys. What TSL said.
