Curious -->How do you believe your actions constitute a violation of the university honor code. Are your actions defined as being such by the university? Were you notified that you violated the honor code?minnie7 wrote:In undergrad and law school received a couple of DMAA notices that I had illegally downloaded something. What usually happened was that my internet was cut off and I just had to email back IT dept saying I understand and to please reinstate my internet. I was never disciplined for it or anything extreme, though I did have to meet with someone once to get my internet reinstated, possibly from the IT dept though I can't remember. The California Bar asks the following question:
Q - Have you ever BEEN FOUND TO HAVE VIOLATED A COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY HONOR CODE OR been dropped, suspended, warned, placed on scholastic or disciplinary probation, expelled or requested to resign or allowed to resign in lieu of discipline from any college or university (including law school), or otherwise subjected to discipline by any such institution or requested or advised by any such institution to discontinue your studies therein?
Do I need to disclose that I received these notices? I would obviously rather be safe than sorry, but I would also prefer not to disclose these embarrassing repeated violations if I don't have to.
how does it hurt to disclose it? why take the chance? I disclosed some stupid thing I got disciplined for in undergrad and I wasn't sure if it was on my "record" or not. I did it just to be safe, and I was admitted without any issue.minnie7 wrote:I called my UG's code of conduct office and they told me that although notices are considered disciplinary actions, they are not necessarily on the record.
