Approaching Professors for Letters of Rec.

Currently a 1L, applying for a scholarship (have one from the school, but this is from a donor) that requires two letters of rec. from professors. My professors seem to like me and I have all A's and B+ after this first semester. However, I guess I'm still in that phase of being slightly terrified of my professors so I'm wondering how to ask for the letters.

Just send them an email and ask. This is a very common request so professors are expecting students to ask for these. Pick professors whose class you got an A in or connected well with, preferably both. Be sure to specifically ask if they are willing to write a positive/enthusiastic letter of recommendation. If a professor seems hesitant for some reason it's best to try and find someone else because you'd rather get a good letter of rec. than a tepid one.

It is common to request a letter of rec. Your professors are not the "bogeyman"

I know I know, I guess its some silly 1L nervous thing. I'm thinking of transferring so now I am not sure if I should apply for the scholarship at all. -OP
