Does anybody know if Wills Trust & Estates is a hard course?

For the most part, I thought it was pretty straightforward. The only tricky things are the Rule Against Perpetuities, and some of the archaic language used to describe the property interests.

It can be tricky at times, only because there are so many unusual terms being thrown around like abatement by extinguishment or dependent relative revocation. But it's a very mechanical subject, and if you put in the time, it's straightforward. It's very useful for the bar exam -- people who hadn't taken it before the bar felt overwhelmed by the subject during bar prep.

Came here to say this.

WTE wasn't offered at my school, but at least for the NY bar, I REALLY wish I would've taken it. I bet the class teaches you 90% more than you need to actually know for the NY bar and there's nothing you couldn't just learn in 3-5 days like the rest of barbri/themis/kaplan people. However, having never heard WTE language, definitions, or just a general framework made bar prep even more stressful to know I had to learn entire subject areas from scratch 21 days before the bar.

I took evidence and crim pro in law school 3L year right before the bar and it was the best decision I made. It's not really for any skills or knowledge necessarily, but more emotional and mental ease/support and to make you feel more in control during bar prep.

Obvi check if WTE are tested in your bar state and look at the syllabus/bar outline to see what's tested and see overlap. Even if there wasn't much overlap, it would probably be worth it just to hear basic WTE terminology and frameworks.

My professor at GW was awesome. Professor Palmer. Class ruled. I actually enjoyed going to it.

Tree of the classes that should've sucked (WT&E, Conflicts, and Con Law II) were utterly awesome due to the professors.

Honestly, I can't imagine it being good unless the prof is good. The material by itself is fucking dry and boring AF. My prof took a bunch of cases from celebs and shit not found in the casebook to make it interesting.

I avoided it in 2L and I'm taking it now. It's pretty easy (and I hated Property).

This was me. I took it 3L and glad I did-- it was on my state's bar exam AND I learned more about property in that class than I did in property 1L year, which was also useful for the bar.

I think it's also an easy class, but IMO it has enough weird terminology etc. that you do not want to encounter this for the first time when you study for the bar if it's on your state's bar exam. But still it's easy enough to take during the semester and have no problems, just not as easy as family law, for example, which you can learn in 4 hours while studying for the bar.
