Why don't students who can't pay off their debt go through Sally Mae? You can just pay 50 bucks a month for as long as you live essentially.

Tell me more. Surely it's not this easy, or I'd be a bit happier about all the UG debt I racked up through Sallie Mae.

I think there is some context missing here. I suspect people who can't pay their loans cannot just "go to" Sally Mae and obtain $50 payments for life.

My loans are through Sallie Mae and this is blatantly incorrect. But, you know, good effort champ.

I have 100k debt from UG and have it reduced to 50$ a month for basically....the rest of my life. I can do the exact same thing with law school. So, yes, good effort on my part.

Even with no interest and a 30 year term thats 300 a month.

I'm guessing you are on IBR with fed loans that are service by Sallie Mae.
