If it's any help, our course is subdivided into: 1. acquisition of property 2. sovereign limits of ownership 3. possessory interests 4. future interests 4. neighbors 6. eminent domain

I've found Understanding Property to be of limited value as it doesn't correspond well to the structure or casebook of my class. I would like a book that is good with black letter law as well as policy (my course is heavy on Coase and ex ante/ex poste analysis)

Thanks!

This book is helpful for the policy side of things and is written by the casebook authors: http://www.amazon.com/The-Oxford-Introd ... o+property

Smith wrote the Glannon guide to property. Not sure how useful it would be for you, since it isn't that policy-focused, but Smith obviously explains the law in the way he lays it out in his casebook and it tracks the casebook's structure. It's very good about hammering out the key BLL. I found it pretty solid. It's Multiple Choice-based if those will be on your exam.
