I mean.. a 3.5 is pretty good. Obviously it would have been ideal to be top 10% but its not like you're in a terrible situation esp given your low debt. Just do well next semester. you shouldn't freak out and drop out or anything.. good job this semester, too.

Ugh...What the hell do you want to hear? Increase your GPA and apply to every paying job that is posted on symplicity, the internet, and mass mail all the firms on the east coast. I mean, what advice can you possibly be given that you don't know already. You have a decent ranking, so hustle and apply to jobs and meet attorneys. I don't know what else anyone can you tell.

I will have almost no debt, want to be a lawyer, and am top 25%. Should I stick it out?sublime wrote:Nova wrote:Humble brag
Yea, I thought it may be a possibility, but what is humblebrag worthy about it? That someone who works at a F500 company emailed OP back once or twice?
I don't get it.

What is the point of threads like these? If your BigLaw or bust, then you're an idiot for going to a school like GW in the first place. Like 20% of the class will get BigLaw.
If your looking for a small or midsize firm, as a 1L it should be obvious to you that grades are not the most important thing - networking and connections are.
3.5 is a good GPA. Not great but very good. Since your attitude sucks though, just drop out

The 1Ls suck at GW. Fucking in the way people.
Oh, and your GPA is solid enough that you should get a job. Doing something. Somewhere.

If you really don't want to be at GW feel free to apply and transfer. Otherwise, do what you otherwise would normally do and keep your grades up.

From what I can tell the 1L talent this year is way better than usual.TTRansfer wrote:The 1Ls suck at GW. Fucking in the way people.

As for the OP, bust your ass in the spring and learn how to interview for OCI. Most people have no idea what a good interview entails. You prob wanna find some business people and learn interviewing from them b/c you're not gonna learn from the career center.

I mean, it's a deep class, I'll give you that. A lot of steals to be found in the lower tiers, but outside of the top two or three picks, there aren't really any blue chippers.ran12 wrote:From what I can tell the 1L talent this year is way better than usual.TTRansfer wrote:The 1Ls suck at GW. Edit: I don't know if sarcasm and mockery came through on that. Hope so.

The entire first group is filled with boom or busts, dude. You have a few safe picks (moderate upside - doc review types), but you're either going to get Skadden or solo practitioners from the rest. And I'd err on the side of caution in predictions. Trade down if you can.First Offense wrote:I mean, it's a deep class, I'll give you that.
