Thoughts on study abroad and/or UCDC program

I'm a 2L thinking of studying abroad or doing UCDC (spending the semester in Washington DC) for fall semester of 3L year. I have a SA job secured for the summer.
Any thoughts on studying abroad? Good idea/terrible idea?
How about UCDC - has anyone done this? Thoughts on this?

I studied abroad spring of 2L year (with SA offer in hand). It was one of the best things I've ever done and has not impacted me negatively in any way that I'm aware of. I say go for it.

Thanks all! Follow up question to "if you get an offer" -- if I study abroad, it would be fall of 3L year (this upcoming fall 2014). Most applications are due around February or March. Since I won't know if I'll be getting an offer from my SA job until the summer ends, is it appropriate to apply for study abroad, put down an payment to hold my spot (usually a couple hundred bucks), and if this summer doesn't pan out just cancel my study abroad plans?
Stupid question, but want to see if this has happened to anyone!

Sounds smart. I'm about to study abroad this semester and went through the process. There are really no repercussions for rescinding your study abroad except any deposits you've already paid (ex: I'm so close to mine that if I pulled out now I would lose roughly two thousand dollars). A couple hundred dollars is not a big deal to give you the option between studying abroad or continuing to look for work.
