So at my school, 1L curve is 3.1-3.2, while 2L curve must fall between 3.1-3.33.
Do professors usually try use the highest value they can? Curious.

Depends on the professor. Some are generous and give out as many high grades as possible and others don't.

Totally depends on professor
Small enough classes at my school (<18 students I think) don't even have curves, and sometimes professors are still ultra stingy with good grades.

Given that a curve exists, that is a totally meaningless statement.

My school is the same for all years, the only difference is 2L and 3L years, if a class is smaller than 20 students, the prof MAY curve to 3.3 (our curve is 3.0 otherwise.)

If everyone had good grades, no one would have good grades.

You forgot Brown. Probably worst of the Ivy grade inflaters.
