I had to let this be known. Seems like common sense, but I guess not. My roommate and I are both received our bar exam results a few weeks ago, and both passed. He had some question about his membership, and decided to call the state bar office to ask. I don't think he was aware of how unbelievably baked he was when he made the call (he's been smoking a bit too much green to help him deal with job search stress) so I guess he thought he could handle a simple task. This is how it went:

"Hey, this is the Kentucky state bar?........ This is John X, and my bar number is........ hold on.........."

[begins to look for his bar number, which he had saved somewhere on an email, but then gets distracted with facebook updates, forgets he's still leaving a message, and doesn't realize it for at least 2 minutes]

"Oh yeah, shit"

[starts looking for his bar number, finds it]

"my bar number is xxxxx. I was just wondering, um..... um....... [to me] Dave what was I gonna ask?....... [back into the phone] hold on lemme call you back"

He said he got an answering machine, told him to leave a message with his question and his name/bar number and contact info.....

I don't know if it recorded everything. I hope not.

Few things are worse than a shithead prescriptivist who's pedantic over something he's not even right about.

I liked when LJL once meant "Literally Just Lol'd". That initialism was helpful for delineating between genuine LOLs and the empty use of lol that gets tacked on to 25% of texts, posts, and IMs.
