Character & Fitness re: speeding

Post by TTRansfer » Fri Nov 08, 2013 6:47 pm

So, I have been known to have a lead foot. I have a number of speeding tickets. I went about 5 years without one, though, until I got caught earlier this year.

Basically, I have to disclose these. I got a print-out of my driving history from the DMV. However, it really doesn't go in depth on any of the tickets. Doesn't list the town or anything. Just what the final charge was.

Should I just disclose what is on this sheet or should I be trying to get more info for the character and fitness app? I figure just giving them what I have access to is enough since 1) I don't know every town or even how to find out what the towns were and 2) the DMV print-out is made especially for people taking the bar.

Over the course of 15 years of driving, I have had several minor traffic tickets. All were
resolved promptly, and most were either dismissed outright or expunged after a driving course or
deferred adjudication.

As they were expunged from my records and most go back over 10 years, I am unable to
remember or obtain exact details or dates. Any omission is not intentional or purposeful. The
ones I recall are listed below –

Speeding, 10/2001, Addison, Texas – Dismissed
Unsafe Lane Change, 03/2003, Lewisville, Texas – Dismissed
Expired Registration, 03/2004, Lewisville, Texas – Dismissed
Speeding / Failure to change address, 08/2004, Dallas, Texas – Dismissed
Failure to change address, 09/2004, Farmer’s Branch – Dismissed
Disregard traffic control device, 01/2005, Dallas, Texas – Dismissed
Failure to change address / speeding, 06/2005, Dallas, Texas - Dismissed
Too fast for conditions, 06/2006, Denver, Colorado – Guilty
Speeding, 11/2008, Flower Mound, Texas – Dismissed
Speeding, 01/2009, Plano, Texas – Dismissed

I have attempted to recall, to the best of my ability, any infraction and list it here within.

Thanks for that. That is roughly what the record that I was sent by the DMV looks like (although I don't have the damn names of the cities, unfortunately).

Thanks a lot to Bikeflip for the PM, too.

Out of curiosity, how did you get all of the DFW Metroplex tickets dismissed? Are you singlehandedly keeping James Mallory in business?

The older ones (1996-2000 or so) a lot of times had errors like a misspelled name or something like that. Once they started swiping drivers licenses, that went away, sadly.

But no, don't pay an attorney. Just ask for deferred adjudication or defensive driving. That's all a traffic attorney does usually. Also, especially in Dallas, if the cop has green piping on the shoulder, they are a real cop and not a traffic cop and won't show up to court.

Failure to change address and stuff like that will be dismissed if you make the change within 10 days and show proof to the clerk.
