Is it helpful to think of exams kind of like memos

Just did my first practice midterm, and the fact pattern seemed like one straight out of lrw. Should I write it like a memo, (not with a question presented and short answer obviously) but in terms of IRAC?

Yes. But don't spend time worrying about organization.

Yup. IRAC is a good way to go about it.

Kind of but not really. A good law school exam will have way, way more analysis and the re-stating of law and facts which is critical to LRW/memo style legal writing won't get you any points on the exam.
You're still applying law to facts an analyzing issues, but it's not at all the same exercise.
