Top Law Schools

Has anyone found CALI lessons useful? And for which courses did you find them useful?

I went from bottom 10% grades in the fall of my 1L year to top 10% grades in the spring, at least in part because of the CALI lessons. This is for 3 reasons primarily: (1) applying the law is completely different from knowing it, and the usual 1L curriculum does not involve any application at all. (2) There are only so many tension points in a given field, and many CALI lessons will point to them. (3) some things you can only really get by doing them over and over and over-Civ Pro and future interests are prime examples.

CALI lessons are amazing because they're free. If I could do 1L over again I would track down every last E&E, Q&A, CALI, whatever, and answer every last on-point question. That said, knowing and applying the law is not the end of the game. You have to have a well-developed exam-writing system in addition to being able to spot and apply the law.

I found the CALI lessons in Civ Pro, Ks, and some of Property to be the most useful. They are definitely worth doing I think. They helped me a lot!!

I was wondering about this too - but when I go on, it says you need to get a password from a password administrator at school. Do most law schools give out passwords for this?

I believe most law schools have a subscription with CALI. My school just recently held a CALI information session for the 1Ls, where they showed them how to register.

Ask the librarian they can provide you with the student password and such.

Even if you don't have time (although most are relatively quick) to do every subject, it is a great way of checking your knowledge on a certain subject after completion or in the middle of learning about it in class.

Cali is really good if you have 30-45 minutes to waste and want to review something in between classes or just during random free time
It's too early in the semester to really show much use yet though

When would you suggest is a good time to begin CALI lessons?

I say do it before your prof gets to an issue. You'll be ahead of the class per se, but no biggie if you end up doing it to review.

yea i noticed that. just started tryin em too. but my civ pro prof. says to try em. plannin on askin him his personal opinion on em today.

i enjoy using em cuz its intuitive n simple to use when i have downtime on my laptop.
