Dear All, to those of you who have already PASSED the MPRE, did you use the free Kaplan course or the free Barbri course? any suggestion will be much appreciated. Thanks.

I thought Kaplan sucked. BarBri was good. I think Themis has a prep course too, and I liked their bar prep course. But don't waste much time prepping for the MPRE, it's not too terribly difficult.

Coors Light and Flat Screen is how I plan to study.

This is probably actually the credited response

I passed the MPRE just by reading the rules, the PR E&E, some PR flash cards, and a combo of both BarBri and Kaplan sample questions. I did not listen to either company's lectures. I took the test right after I had PR so I had just studied for the final for class. I was massively over prepared. I believe you could pass by just reading the rules and doing a bunch of sample questions. Note that I crushed the test, but walked out wondering if I passed. So don't fret if you study and walk out wondering wtf. If you do 8-12 hours of prep, I think that should be plenty.

Awaiting whether I passed/failed. BARBRI's MC questions are great. Kaplan's are really hokey and at best make the test seem pretty easy and at worse resolve questionable areas of the law in a way the MPRE would not like.

The BARBRI video was meh. Just a dude patting you on the back and telling you it is easy for 3 hours. Did not spend time watching Kaplan vid so not sure on how legit it is.

If it's been awhile, signing up for both (because they're free) will give you access to double the number of practice Q's, if that will make you feel better about being prepared. Honestly, you probably won't get through them all, because that would require far too much prep time.

I listened to the Barbri lecture and did about 100 total Q's from Barbri and Kaplan.

I used the barbri stuff. Didn't watch the lecture; just used the ipad app to do some questions and read the explanations. Got a 122. You'll be fine with a small amount of work to familiarize yourself with the question style.
