Roomate or solo-dolo?

Hey guys, I have narrowed down my living options to either rooming in a fully furnished 2/2 with someone that I met through my cousin who is from my same city and as such, we should have a good deal in common. Or, a 1/1 by furnishing expenses (I know, GREAT friend!).

My concerns are: Focus vs. not being completely isolated. This person is a 2L so he may be able to give me the ins and outs of first year and how the exams were for certain professors if I end up with the same ones. My only concern about having a roommate is the potential for becoming more distracted and not focusing as much as I would otherwise by being alone.

The TLS community has been a tremendous resource for me to-this-point in my law school venture, so I figure that I would reach out and see what your thoughts are.

Thanks in advance!
-Joe

Well do you prefer to live alone or with someone else?

No one can really tell you that

If you're going to a new city, take the roommate. It's nice to have someone going through the same sort of situation with you. Going home to an empty apartment after a rough day can be pretty lonely.

I'm sure a 2L will be respectful of your space and understand what it was like to be a 1L. Save some money and spend on all the liquor you'll need to cope with 1L stress.

Haha thanks man, seems like the exact thing I am thinking. Besides, solo-dolo will come out to 200-300 more per month. That comes out to 2400 - 3600 more. But I guess in the long run it could be worth it if it helps me stay focused on studying.

Is "solo-dolo" some cutesy sorority phrase?

Oh woh woah woah
Why must it feel so wrong when I try and do right, do right
Oh woah woah woah
Soaring through paradise when I'm closing my eyes
I'm, Mr. Solo Dolo

Why must it feel so right when I know that it's wrong, it's wrong
When will I ever learn from the words from my songs
I'm, Mr. Solo Dolo.

Use the "forum search" function. There have been many threads on the roommate v. living alone debate.
