Admin Law Supplements

Post by crossarmant » Wed Feb 20, 2013 12:51 pm

So, I am just absolutely lost. My professor is subpar, my casebook is entirely useless (as are nearly all of these damn things), I have my note to write, and I'm interning 20 hours a week. Endlessly poring over this worthless casebook just is not an option; what suggestions do you guys have for Admin Law?

I looked over the E&E, as they've always been good to me in the past, but it just doesn't seem to sync up or explain too well. I'm using "Gellhorn and Byse's Administrative Law, 11th Ed." by Strauss, Rakoff, Farina, and Metzger. Any help would be really appreciated!

Oh I used your book too but barely read it. I don't necessarily recommend that.

I used "Inside Administrative Law: What Matters & Why" by Beermann in a class that was half-focused on Admin Law. I didn't spend too much time in it, but it was good in helping me quickly grasp the concepts explained in class. Definitely worth checking to see if the library has it.

Definitely use Inside Administrative Law. It did a great job of helping me understand review of fact finding and statutory interpretation(Chevron) stuff.

I also used your casebook. It sucks so much. It jumps around too much. But, do take a look at Inside Admin Law. It will help.

I am also in the market for ad-law supplement and also using the shitty Gellhorn and Byse casebook. Kalvano, Rad-Lulz (or anyone else qualified here to weigh in) - would you guys still recommend Inside Administrative Law given that there is this Nutshell Series one written by Ernest Gellhorn (CB author)?

I looked at others, then bought Inside Admin Law. I've never been a fan of the Nutshell series, and I've recommended the Beermann book to lots of people. Many have written me to say it worked out well for them, none to say that it sucked. Take that for what you will.

The Emanuel's guide is written by the same author who wrote the Inside Admin Law, but I've found the Emanuel's to be pretty thin. And the crunch time version is incredibly thin, but I assume what the author wrote in Inside Admin Law mirrors the fundamentals and explanation he lay down in the Emanuel's guide.
