I think this is just a more amped up version of what U of SDakota does. You can take half of your 1L USDLS classes during your senior year as a USD UG student.... But the academic requirements they are asking for seem really too much, especially since this is KU and not a t14. You are better off going somewhere else and finishing your UG in three years then just doing LS like normal...

I am a firm believer in taking at least a year or so off between UG and Law school. Not everyone does it, and it isn't a good idea for everyone, but generally I think a brief separation from academia is beneficial for law school studies. This seems a bit ambitious and also a means of ensuring students attend KU law. I have no idea what the legal market looks like in Kansas, but if there is a real need for more lawyers then perhaps this is a program geared towards addressing that issue.

There's an identical program in place at Marquette, though I don't think it's very effective. Of the ten or so people in it from my undergrad class there, I don't think anyone actually ended up at Marquette Law.

Think this is a great idea given that undergrad is absolutely worthless and unnecessarily expensive, with the two caveats being that I think some time off after undergrad can be really valuable and the students who start this program are realistic about the ku law job prospects.

They are not the first or only 3+3 program.

I completely agree, at least in my own experience. I took two years off and came back prepared to work my ass off. I would not have been able to do it if I had gone straight through without any real world experience.

Seems like a terrible idea for students, as you get psudo-locked in to a meh law school (my undergrad institute so I'm not hating) before really knowing what it means to go to a better law school. Plus, who know what could happen in those 3 years. Law school may implode and become a TTTT. Also, I agree some time off before law school is very beneficial.
For law schools, seems like a good idea, as you get to reap in money early, since I didn't see an LSAT requirement, meaning no LSAT taken, don't need to give scholly money, and don't need to report the LSAT numbers. Add a "GPA requirement" to ensure you get into the law program, and you found the ultimate loophole.

I did my undergrad in 3 years and it didn't take any fancy "3+3" program.
