Top Law Schools

That's it. What's done is done. Post any fears or excitement and settle in for a long month (or two).

Civ Pro - Easier than expected, yet somehow I feel like I let it slip away. Forgot to mention a pretty important piece in the essay and don't really feel like my response was well organized. Praying the exam wasn't actually as easy as everyone thought. Very nervous about this one.

Torts - My confidence is all over the place. Walked out feeling amazing, then got home and thought of ten reasons I shouldn't. Typing speed was a huge bottleneck. Painfully slow at 55wpm. Working on this over break. Better late than never.

K's - Had solid starters drafted beforehand and put them to use, but, again, typing speed killed me. On a 4 hr exam I got 3.5 hrs in and realized I had missed a problem on defenses (still had about a half hour to go on the problem I was on). Got the rules down and some quick analysis, but it pulled my attention away from the other problem I was working on. No idea how this went. Feel ok for a couple hours, then I want to jump off a bridge.

Crim - I think I nailed a pretty tough second half. I heard a lot of people got bogged down on the first half and didn't finish. I did a hard cut off based on the recommended time. My analysis was nowhere near where I wanted it to be on the first half though. Again, very nervous here.

Let's hear it.

Checking in. Have only taken Torts so far, but I have no idea how I did. Spotted a million issues, thought of a million more afterwards.

Civ Pro - Closed everything, feel good about it though. 3200 words, all of them pretty good. My guess, top 20%.

Prop - Feel great. My worse class, but hit everything hard. 4500 words. I accidentally named a future interest vested remainder subject to open instead of contingent remainder subject to open. But I talked so much about the RAP problem I feel good about it. Also BS a bit on an assignment question for privity of contract. Hoping I got that right. But really, I feel very good about it. Again, top 20%, but based on people literally leaving 30 minutes early in that class, I could see higher.

Torts is tomorrow. I honestly think I can get #1 overall in that class. I got all the material down cold. And I like how his exams are, tons of CoA everywhere. I type fast enough to get 7-8k words overall (I usually read, outline for 20 minutes, then blast away) Plus I just get what he wants and what he is looking for.


My biggest fear is that I feel so good about my tests. I don't want to be let down.

In my years on TLS I think about 70-80% of the adorably over-confident 1Ls I've quoted making posts like this have wound up blowing it, but every now and then you cocksure sombitches are actually right.

Hahahahahaha this kid cracks me up! Guessing what percent you are in before grades are back? "I knew the material" well unless you are at a TTT, so did most people. No way to actually know how you did at this point. Thanks for the though

Fair enough, but I judged myself all throughout the semester to see where I am at. I'll gladly pass along my predictions and results once I get actual grades back.

During Sandy, I had to miss a class for weather related reasons. That was the class on rape. I guessed it wouldn't be on the exam, and didn't really review. Oops.
I spent the first 20 minutes reading everything I had available trying to catch up. Luckily it was a statutory interpretation question, so I could kind of bullshit my way through, but I'm not exactly confident.

Checking in. My panic level increases as we finish more things. I don't feel so bad entering an exam or even immediately after, but once I think about my peers I realize I could easily be on the bottom of the curve. Hopefully sweet mother median watches over me and pulls me in line.

One left. Hopefully I don't mess it up. At least we will all do well– on average.
