I used Westlaw and entered a couple of broad search terms with a connector for "first impression." So it was something like "technology /30 first /3 impression."

Worked for me. Found some interesting cases.

I did something similar to that except that I used (circuit! /5 split!) /p as words related to what I wanted to write about. It ended up taking me, like, seven hours to find something because unfortunately just because a case is flagged by the search does not mean it will work as a note topic. But it ended up being well worth it because ultimately I found a difference between two laws that I don't think anyone noticed before, and now my note is being published.

the moderator of this site has put together a great resource for LR students searching for note topics. circuit splits make interesting notes and often write themselves to an extent due to their descriptive nature.
