Met a professor (whose class I skipped) while leaving school, so I walked with her to the parking lot. She asked "where did you park?" and I said "right here," pointing to a car nearby. But, I clearly didn't drive and booked it out of there. Is she going to think I'm a lying weirdo?

I am so confused why you pretended to drive? But dont sweat it. 1) worse case scenario your professor realizes that everyone has these odd moments sometimes. 2) your prof thinks you parked somewhere else.

My awkward brain thought that I had to walk with her and could only justify that by saying I drove

Did she see you clearly not walk towards a car?

Well, I pointed to a car right beside me and she walked away and I booked it after she was far away. But, I'm afraid it might be a staff car she recognizes or...she might see there's no one in the car while leaving. Brain went full retard... sigh

You could just have been walking somewhere else nearby, and people usually don't remember what cars other people drive anyway (so she probs didn't recognize the car). Don't sweat it.

You could just go "buy out" that car you pointed to, whatever it takes. That way you would have only been half lying.

On another note, I visited another prof and I talked to her about career paths, etc, and she told me that she made 400k as a family lawyer. Am I greatly misinformed? I guess we're in a different time and legal market...but do family lawyers make a lot?

Are you hijacking your own thread or is this broadly under "fml"?

You know, I never got why people find it weird just to admit that they want to walk with someone in order to talk.
But you shouldn't sweat. I think lots of people would lie in that exact situation. Also, if law profs are anything like undergrad profs, they are used to awkward student responses.

Uhh, it's really not a big deal, but I don't think most people would lie in that situation. How about, "oh, I'm on foot"?

No. And I think I recall learning that there are no contingency fees regarding alimony or child support.

They can. It entirely depends on where you work and what they do.

I'm still confused about why you wanted to walk to the parking lot with your professor?
