Waking up

I'm on my second absence regarding the ABA attendance rule. I am horrified right now, don't get me wrong I am HUNGRY for success in law school, I want to do well. But, I slept through my alarm twice, I didn't even get a chance to turn the alarm off my body completely didn't hear it. I'm afraid this will happen again and be dismissed. I'm buying two more alarm clocks, but I am so worried.

Is there an effective way of waking up? I seriously need help.

Have any of your Professors actually said anything about the ABA rule? Cause in general no one gives a shit, as long as you are there for the final, you Prof is unlikely to care about attendance.

Well, it's on the syllabus saying we can't miss 15% or 4 classes. Roll sheets are passed around marking our attendance.

How did you get this far in life without having to wake up in the morning?

I have found using the alarm in my iPhone works, as long as I set it to the "NUCLEAR FUCKING ATTACK! DEFCON1! DEFCON1!" noise.

My roommate in college had that one. I wanted to kill him.

I set like 5 alarms every morning. Do what you gotta do.

Or get one of the robot alarms that goes off and moves around, making you get up and chase it.

I just put my alarm on the other side of the room so I have to get out of bed to shut it off. My only problem is when my alarm starts becoming part of my dream and I sleep through it.

I'm gonna order that sonic boom alarm. If that doesn't do it, oh well fuck everything.

I'm not sure there is a class in law school that I haven't missed more than three classes.

The ABA wrote:304(b) A law school shall require, as a condition for graduation, successful completion of a course of
study in residence of not fewer than 58,000 minutes of instruction time, except as otherwise
provided. At least 45,000 of these minutes shall be by attendance in regularly scheduled class
sessions at the law school.

304(d) A law school shall require regular and punctual class attendance.

Interpretation 304-6
A law school shall demonstrate that it has adopted and enforces policies insuring that individual students
satisfy the requirements of this Standard, including the implementation of policies relating to class
scheduling, attendance, and limitation on employment.
Obviously the school can treat you like a 2nd grader if they want, but two absences ain't no ABA rule.

And welcome to the grown-up world, where we have to wake up before noon. Get used to it.

Go to a T14. No attendance taken. The people with the highest grades never go to class.

This seems unnecessarily intense. I have to miss at least an entire day's worth of classes just by travelling to a Moot Court competition (and more like 2 entire days' worth for competitions on the other coast). Coupled with the TON of class I had to miss in order to do CBs, I'd be totally screwed if attendance was taken.

But the thing is, none of my professors care (I've written them emails and heard back, so I'm certain they don't care), and attendance is only ever taken on the first day (for add/drop period purposes).

Where do you go to school that 2 absences has you so scared?

In DC like 9 AM is decently early to on time. I don't think anyone would care if you weren't there by 9:30. 10 is probably pushing it.
