Nov 3 is the test date. Like 3 solid days of studying is cool. Assume I'm not stupid.

3 days is totally fine. Seriously.

If you've taken PR, two or three solid days should be plenty for a scaled 85+. Probably even overkill.
I studied roughly that amount: Read over the BarBri book & Kaplan's free website thing, took a practice test, got 50% right; read over the MRPC online focusing on conflicts and confidentiality, took a practice test, got 70% right; read over my outline from PR, took a test and got 85% right. Passed easily and definitely over did it, but I didn't want to drop another $70 and waste four hours of my life again.

I probably did 10-12 hours. I just watched the barbri video and then studied my notes. I made like 18 pts higher than I needed.

Haha, did you just get that email confirming that the test was nOv 3 and telling you to print your ticket? Ugh I had actually forgotten about it.
I have not taken PR yet. Do I need extra studying? Also, they don't ask questions in which you need to know which specific rule (like Rule 3.4) provides the answer, right?

You post all over here - how can you not know the answer to this already? 5 hours if you've taken PR already, assuming you have the Bar Bri MPRE lecture / study book. If you haven't taken PR already - you wasted an easy A.
No, you won't have to ID the specific rule, but you do need to know the rules.

Taking PR now, but it's not an easy A at NU. It's curved and supposedly it is easy material. That is classic B territory.
Is the Bar Bri MPRE lecture / study book free?

For the MPREasy, I did about 10 hours, all in the barbri outline and about 40 practice questions.

Yeah, I know a bunch of people who literally did a bit of reading the night before and passed just fine.
However, I also know one moron who failed the MPRE twice so...give it two days of studying to be safe, I guess?

Yeah I got destroyed in PR last semester. Probably deserved it, though.
So with that said, how much do I have to study assuming I learned next to nothing in PR but I am also not an idiot?

Do the BarBri practice problems online.

It's a model rules based test. Understand the rules and you'll be fine.

Is there a consensus on who offers the best MPRE review materials? Or are they all pretty much the same?

A quick read of BarBri's mini-outline (free), a few practice tests on their website, and the little bit of PR I remembered was good enough for a 125+. Some of the rules are tricky and I found the online tests good for working that out.
Can't really speak to Kaplan...

What if you're a shade shy of satisfying your state's requirements to sit for the MPRE? Are you just screwed and have to wait for next year?

They offer it every quarter. But yeah.

Got the free Barbri book, read over the outline once or twice and took a practice exam. Probably 6 hours total. Went out drinking the night before. Passed by 15 pts.
The real question is how much studying will limit your stress while waiting for results. Would have probably been 10-12 hours in my case.

No penalty for retaking it right?

Nope. Just the cost.
Also, don't skimp the judicial ethics rules. That's good for a few questions that are easy if you read the rules...but the rules mostly aren't something you'd be able to guess at if didn't read over.

Nope, unless you count merciless mocking.

Badge of 3L Honor Bro. I'd be more worried that I actually studied too much.
