I found it to be a decent hornbook, but it's a little dense. I would suggest using a commercial supp (Glannon's E&E) to get a broad overview, and then use Friedenthal to focus on any particular issues you don't fully grasp. (I would definitely read the chapter on Personal Jurisdiction, because Glannon's approach is too cursory)

i was contemplating whether to buy glannons or not (my prof hasnt mentioned it)

but the majority opinion seems to say that its great...

its been a couple weeks for me and i still dont know if i really even know whats going on, even tho i am just trying my best
to follow along.

i checked out glannons E&E and one question i have is

how do people generally look thru this book? if their class is going through "pleading"

do they go to the pleading section of the E&E? the reason im kinda wondering is because in class we go thru big cases, etc.

however just from my quick glance of the glannon E&E i wasnt sure if it really had explanations of all these cases

anyone care to help? and to the above gentleman. thank u !

I used Glannon only right before exams. I just went in order and did one chapter after another, not really reading the recaps but just answering the questions and comparing my answers to the responses. It was really helpful for me.
