Should this citation: Anderson v. Liberty Lobby, 477 U.S. 242, 248, 106 S.Ct. 2505, 91 L.Ed.2d 202 (1986) be shortened if I was to put this in a brief?

Just use the U.S. citation.

Wait, do people actually cite all three reporters for Supreme Court cases still? Seems old school to me.

EDIT: Don't have my BB on me but I think they explicitly state that you do not need parallel citations under BB. I know some journals require them in certain cases, but if you are just following BB, leave all out but U.S.

Common wisdom: The index is your one and only friend when it comes to BB.

Pro tip: go take a stack of post-it-notes and tab Rule 1, Rule 4, Rule 10, and T6. For everything else, consult the index.

The answer is that you should pretty much never parallel cite. I've never once parallel cited. And, trust me, I've done more citing and citechecking than any human should ever do. Ever.
