Is Patent Law on the way down?
Hi all,
I have been researching the idea of becoming a patent attorney concentrated in the field of Mechanical Engineering (my major). After speaking to a number of experienced engineers, they described the current patent system as "broken" and "in need of change." If there is change in the patent system, would that directly effect my job prospects as a patent attorney? With a JD, can I change my career to another type of law?
Thank you!

the more broken the patent system is, the more work there is for lawyers. can you see why?BallHog wrote:Hi all,

Patent law isn't as lucrative as it used to be if that's what you mean.

This question is way too vague to really form a meaningful question.

Maybe I'm reading into it, but is this a serious answer? I can't read internet sarcasm (nor should I try).

I am serious.
As long as your grades are above median, you are practically guaranteed a job at a firm.
Engineering majors are in ridiculous demand right now.
Only reason people think patent law is a bubble about to burst is because more and more engineering majors are pursuing a law degree, but I personally don't see it really becoming a problem within the next 5 years.
