I suppose if you're big law or bust, that is likely the case. I stand corrected. I don't think I have the capacity or nerves to work big law but more power to you if you can. Good luck with the rest of grades!jarofsoup wrote:Congrats on the award. Internships do not seem to be a problem for anyone. But it is bar prep time at my school and it does not seem that a lot of people have careers lined up. My school has good employment for a tier 2, but a lot of it is shit law. I guess I am gunning for big law.alicrimson wrote:jarofsoup wrote:I think of the medium every time I see someone who is homeless. Do you seriously think this way? I know not everyone finds legal work but at my non-top 20 most everyone I know has jobs lined up. I'm sure there are exceptions to this, but the general rule appears (atleast for my non-top 20) that one can find employment even if they are below median. I suppose that mostly involves networking and a lot of hustle on their end. Plus, charisma can go a long way in the right setting. Idk. TLS gloom and doom always makes me but...oh well.
Anywho, I found out tonight that despite all of my bitching about failure, I booked my civ pro class. That was a surprise indeed. I'm fairly certain that grade on will work for LR and I will be the first person who graded on who cannot write worth a damn. lol.

At least none of us graduated from law school in 2008 - 2010. I did temp work alongside several law grads who graduated and passed the bar around that time. It scared the hell outta me.

I have been on a doc review farm before as a paralegal. TTTLS, you always have the best little blurbs? Pictures? I'm not sure what they are, but they are amazing. Pretty much guaranteed lolcats upon view.

Re: 1L Spring Grades Waiting Room
I did doc review gigs as a paralegal before law school with a number of lawyers from Cooley, GGU, and Regent. The idea of graduating law school and going right back to where I was before school except with 6-figure debt terrifies me to the core. Definitely hoping 2014 sets us out upon calmer seas.TTTLS wrote:jarofsoup wrote:I have been on a doc review farm before as a paralegal. Got a high pass in legal writing, again. HILARIOUS considering the effort that I put into that class and moot court this year.
I'm taking Rad's advice though and I'll look at my grades sometime in late June

For a number of us here, it is the 1L OCI seas of 2012 that is concerning. So much of LS is confounding, especially the sink or swim emphasis placed on the first year.crossarmant wrote:Definitely hoping 2014 sets us out upon calmer seas.

Got grades today, dipped a little bit but still kept 1/2 my scholarship. Should be in top 1/3 still too.

I'm amazed by our LRW department. Our LRW grades are curved against the entire section (our section is split into about 6 LRW sub-sections). They've had the final assignments for over a month now, and still no grades. Same thing happened in the fall. I understand that doctrinal professors haven't been able to get through hundreds of pages of exams in the two weeks since we took the final. But the LRW professors have 10 papers to read of 16 pages max each. Even with time spent to figure out the curve among a few different professors grading, it is unacceptable that it's taken over a month when each individual professor has no more than 10 papers to read and grade.

If I had to guess, we'll have grades in 2.5 weeks (all are released simultaneously so no compulsive checking).

Re: 1L Spring Grades Waiting Room
Do your LRW instructors also have real jobs? That could explain why it's taking them longer than it takes full-time profs, whose only work for the entire year is the 2-3 weeks of grading exams.MrPapagiorgio wrote:I'm amazed by our LRW department. Hopping on the complain train, my school's website says that all grades should be in, but I only have 1. It suggests that I should contact the other profs, because nagging someone who still has control over my grade is in my best interest.

Re: 1L Spring Grades Waiting Room
Your school must not like professors. When our grades are released, they explicitly say do not contact a professor until like 10 days later if the grades does not appear. Contact the registrar's office.nihil1315 wrote:Do your LRW instructors also have real jobs? I also would like to join in complaining. My first exam happened a full month ago tomorrow. My last exam happened three weeks ago tomorrow. I still do not have a single real grade back. Deadline is in eight days. But, I just want to fucking know.

Re: 1L Spring Grades Waiting Room
The only grade I have gotten back yet is a "no grade." It was an elective, so graduating 3Ls have their grades uploaded and the rest of us get this placeholder thing. And seconded on LRW wait, currently at about six weeks.

Re: 1L Spring Grades Waiting Room
LRW and ConLaw today. Happy and relieved. I made the mistake of talking to others after Conlaw, and they quickly pointed out to me that I missed (what seemed to be) a huge issue. Glad I survived anyway! [Lesson to any lurking 0Ls and to my future self next semester: NEVER talk to others about the exam afterwards. Too much unneeded stress.]
But 3 grades / 10 credits still to go. It's amazing how fast happiness of a good grade can be overshaddowed by the impending doom of unknown grades.

Still nothing. Getting anxious. Pretty sure I didn't do as well this semester as I did last semester.

First grade is up. Plan on waiting for all grades to be posted. This isn't as bad as I thought... yet.

Got two grades this week. I am not sure, now, if I prefer them all at once or as soon as one comes in.
What I don't understand is why our LRW grades are not out since it's been 2-3 months since our last assignment was due.

And since it's ungraded... I would imagine the LWIs had their honors picked already.r6_philly wrote:Got two grades this week. I am not sure, now, if I prefer them all at once or as soon as one comes in.

Omg. So relieved with civ pro grade. Thought I did horribly as I definitely missed some things. Phew. Now just need property and contracts to be just as good as the first two and I'll be fine for the semester.

Re: 1L Spring Grades Waiting Room
Yeah I'm starting to get really anxious. Which is bad, because it's only been 2 weeks since my last final. Grades are supposed to show up on the 29th, but last semester we got them a few days early, and an administrator mentioned to me this semester that some grades-related stuff is supposed to happen as early as yesterday. Geeze. So, yeah, I'll be checking every few hours for the next week. Oy.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
