Maybe you're only a member when the semester starts or something? No idea. It sounds like you made it though.

I made it from the University of Minnesota. Very pleasantly surprised when I got the phone call as I was really only expecting to make a secondary journal.

Just curious, how much of a resume boost do you guys think law review is?

What do you all think about using your write-on piece for a writing sample? My memo and appellate briefs were SPS but evidently my write-on submission was pretty good.

If you use your law review write-on as a writing sample, make sure that the reader knows that it is an unedited work.

Careful, for our law review competition I'm pretty sure all materials need to stay confidential forever.

Congrats! If you don't mind my asking, how long do they give you to accept/decline?

Not sure, I didn't need to ask for time. Sorry. I think they will have everything figured out in a few days, maybe end of the week at latest, so it has to be before then.

probably depends on what other things you have (e.g. grades, school range, moot courts, clinics, RAship).

I didn't see what your clause said, but I think sometimes journals word things funny like that to cover themselves so that people don't go to OCI with law review on their resumes and then promptly dump it before ever doing work after reaping the benefits.

Good luck getting anything done at work whatsoever. On the day we were supposed to find out I did literally nothing all day.

Thanks, congrats to you too -- I counted 12 from section 3 I think. Not sure if you're staying at UT or moving on, but see you Sept. 1 if the former.

99% sure I'm staying. All the TLR love we've received in the past 2 days made me think that it makes more sense to stay at UT with TLR for a career in Texas. Also, a few of my friends made it onto TLR, so it should be a good time. And by "good time," I mean an awful time. I wonder if we can sneak in an iPad with ESPN 3 for the football games on saturdays.

Jessuf wrote:Stressed that I screwed up my write-on submission because I didn't upload a transcript to the system with my case note. It didn't mention this in the instructions or on the upload page, but I found an obscure reference to this on an FAQ page on a different site. Feeling pretty confused now. Everything submitted through the submission page was anonymous (identified by an ID number), so I'm not sure how the transcript was supposed to work given that it has my name all over it. Also, grades play a pretty big role in the overall score (40%-50%), so if I have no grades available, I am pretty screwed.
Get in touch with your school's publications manager (or whatever title he/she goes by). They can sort it out if it's permitted.
