After you take it, do you find out your raw score/rank, or is it pass/fail? If you fail, do they tell you by how much?

It is pass or fail. If you pass you just find that out. If you fail, you get specifics and can get access to what you got wrong. They grade near-failing essays additional times so that you can't appeal their decision. That's how it is in NY state at least.

In New York you also get your scaled MBE score when you pass, but that's it.

Michigan gives you both MBE and essay raw score, then total scaled score.
