Anyone know the bluebook rule for how to short cite a Federalist paper? Thanks.

There is this amazing invention at the back of the Blue Book called....wait for it....an "index." In that magical and mysterious land, in between the romping unicorns and playful fairies, topics may or may not be organized in an alphabetical manner. But, if they were to be, it's certain that it would directly point you to the spot in the Blue Book dedicated to such things.

I agree with the index suggestion. It just took me all of three seconds to look up how to cite a Federalist Paper, and that included going downstairs to get my Bluebook.

When citing an entire Federalist paper, include the author’s name parenthetically and do not indicate a specific edition:

The Federalist No. 23 (Alexander Hamilton).

Group together papers written by the same author:

The Federalist Nos. 23, 78 (Alexander Hamilton), Nos. 10, 51 (James Madison).

When citing particular material within a paper, however, list the usual publication information for the edition cited:

The Federalist No. 5, at 53 (John Jay) (Clinton Rossiter ed., 1961).
