I received an email a few weeks ago telling me there is a deans list letter ready for pick up. Is this letter good for anything or is it just like a pat on the back? Yeah, Im contemplating not picking it up because its out of the way, but if useful for anything, I'll pick it up.
Also, what percentage of the class is generally on the Deans List? I didn't think my grades were spectacular, but I was .18 GPA over the requirment. My TTT didn't release class rank.
I go to a school ranked between 101-111.

It just means you did well for a semester and have another resume bullet.

I'd check out the school's website to see if they list the cut off for it

I can't help the feeling that your'e bragging.
For what it matters, I am jelly. My school doesn't even have dean's list. Fuck. We don't even have an honors program until graduation. Not like my school is high ranked or anything, but I'd say we're high enough for them to put some effort into it. Lousy bastards.

Just resume fodder. Get the letter and put it in a file so you can reference it by saying "Deans List, Fall 2011" or whatever.

If yours is anything like ours, its a certain gpa cut off. IE: ours is a 3.3, which doesn't even put you in the top third this year. It probably isn't that big of a deal.

I know you were trying to reassure him about the Dean's List but it came off as really dismissive and it de-emphasizes the accomplishments that some of your classmates are proud of (and WOULD be proud of in any world other than the TLS circle jerk)

I did not mean for it to come across that way and I apologize if that's how it is perceived. A 3.3 is a great gpa and one people SHOULD be proud of. Again, I apologize for coming off as a jerk.

It's just a letter to make you feel good and feel recognized, so you don't transfer out of the school. It probably shouldn't go on your resume unless deans list is top 15% or higher.
