Evidence

Post by kalvano » Tue Jan 10, 2012 10:04 pm

I'm sure this has been covered before, but I can't find it. What's a good Evidence supplement? 4 credit course, so I need to rock it.

The E&E? Or is there one like the "Inside" series?

A good Hornbook that is fairly inexpensive if you buy used is Evidence, Fourth Edition by Christopher B. Mueller

Our professor recommends Understanding Evidence, most students don't read the book and only use the rules and this supplement. Our prof. is very rule based though.

Sweet jeebus, it's written by the same authors as my textbook. Thank you very much.

Do you know anything about your final?

These are good: Lexis Nexis QA (note the confrontation clause stuff is out of date), Siegel's Essay and MC, and CALI lessons. For practicing MC, these are great. They are also good for drilling BLL.

I didn't really use the E&E, but the recommendations are good. And for a course like Evidence, it's often overlooked but really really focus on the rules. They are fairly well written - especially the restyled rules.

I got an A in Evidence FWIW.

My final is about 100 M/C or T/F questions, with a 1-2 line explanation of the answer. Both the answer and the explanation have to be correct. The Siegels book sounds good. I loathe my textbook, and someone was nice enough to give a copy of the E&E, so I'll probably buy the Siegels book and Understanding.

Thanks for the tips everyone.

Siegels should do you well, then. The essay portion of the book I never used. But the MC problems are MBE-style and fairly challenging, with explanations of why an answer is right and wrong. There are over 100 questions total with which to work. This should be perfect for your style of exam.

If you have an iPad, Lexis is running a sale on their Q&A series. The Q&A on Evidence in App form is also more current than the printed book.

And depending on how much you like Evidence, this blog (http://lawprofessors.typepad.com/evidenceprof/) highlights some interesting cases that apply mainstream Evidence law.

LOL Evidence. I'm so fucked in this class now. The class doesn't end until 9:30 at night and it takes me an hour to get home, I was already in a bad mood, and the professor was still going many minutes after 9:30 with no apology or indication that he even knew it was well past time, so I got up and walked out. I feel sure I just lowered the shit out of my grade.
