Winning law school prizes

Post by azntwice » Tue Jan 10, 2012 3:06 am

Has anyone on this forum ever won a law school prize? If so, what for and how did you do it? Just curious to see if it comes from hard work or from good connections with the prof. Probably both.

Law school prize? Not sure what you mean.

Are you talking about CALI awards or something like that?

e.g. some kind of named prize at graduation, or a prize for best essay in X subject area or something.

Columbia gives out several prizes, largely to the "best exam" in a given subject in a year. There are also a few for upper level exams, and there are some more general ones such as "student interested in international law and world peace" (yes, it's for real). You can get an idea here: http://www.law.columbia.edu/academics/r ... ecognition

I don't know how the best exam is selected from among the different sections, but I'd imagine a professor chooses the best exam from his section and they're submitted into a pool?

hm, yes i knew about the CLS prizes; i guess i'm wondering how the "general" prizes get awarded. like... how do they determine who's contributed the most to world peace?
