Does anyone rent books? If so, good sites other than bookrenter.com?

I rented two casebook there last semester and was very satisfied with the books' quality and the easy returning processes.

By the way, you should save the shipping package for later returning.

I rented from B&N. One books was in poor condition and had a weird smell to it (but perfectly readable), the other was probably brand new. Okay experience, and, overall, I would still rent again.

Buy books early, you will get them much much cheaper. One of my books for next semester was selling for $100 used (good) a month and a half ago, now it sells for $180 used (good). If you buy early in good condition and you sell them at the right time you will actually make money on them. Just sell your books that have 2011 or 2012 in the title ASAP at a competitve price because those books will sell for $5 or less the following semester. I had three 2011 books in Fall, and sold all of them at a 1/3 loss, but I knew if I didn't sell them before Spring Semester it wouldnt be worth selling at all. Right now, Con Law, Torts, and Contracts books are selling really low, dont drop their price yet because next Fall they will go back up in value unless they come out with a new edition.

Rent your books if you dont want to go through the hassel.

I used Amazon Marketplace last semester and got some pretty good deals, but then I realized that it's going to be a pain selling the books back later. So this semester, I used Chegg. I just got 3 of my textbooks. One is clean, but two are pretty highlighted and marked up. I'm pretty disappointed because I like to read clean texts, or at least with minimal highlighting and marks, but I'm sure I'll get over it. Plus, the technicolor highlighting might help when I'm in a time crunch.

I've rented from there for the past two semesters. Free shipping both ways, but if you want the free shipping, order EARLY. Some books take up to 10 days to come in. Some of my husband's books were brand new, the others were in excellent used condition.

Searches all over the internet for best prices. You can search for all of your books before it does the final price calc and it allows you to buy from multiple vendors, rent, etc. or choose cheapest from once source if that's more convenient. I love it.

Might as well buy used earlier and sell back. Renting, at least from the school bookstore is awful. If you lose the book or it is damaged for some reason you have to pay almost the new cost on top of the rental cost with another $20ish to cover an administrative fee and tax (of course).

If you buy used, you are can always sell back, sometimes for a gain, especially if you buy as early as possible.

Our school rents them both new and used. If mine are already used (haven't gotten them yet), then I can continue to mark them up, but if they're new, I can't. Whatevs, I'm not paying $170 for a book I'll never use again after this semester.

I rented all my books this semester after the hassel of trying to sell my books back to the bookstore last semester---they tried giving me $11 for a $180 casebook because it wasnt being used this semester! im going to try selling it on half.com now, but its not worth the hassel to me so I decided to just rent. i rented from my school bookstore and ecampus.com [if you put stuff in your basket, enter your email info etc but then never check out, they will send you a $3 coupon code thru email to entice you into coming back an dchecking out...$3 isnt much, but hey, if you can get a discount just for not checking out rt away, why not :p]
