Curious... did you use a binder? Tabs? A staple? Separate out different sections of your outline and staple those separately? Trying to figure out how to be most efficient. Thanks!

It is really going to depend on the class.

For example...Civ Pro is in a binder and tabbed liked hell because its open book, time is an issue, and it is a far more efficient way to keep everything together while giving me the ability to find something fast. I have a friend who did all flowcharts for Civ Pro and actually got hers professionally bound. My Legislation outline, on the other hand, is separated into chunks that we covered in class; I essentially have 5 mini-outlines (one for agency v. trustee; one for statutory interpretation, etc.), and those are stapled together.

Whatever is most efficient for you is the best way to go. Everyone is going to do it differently.

Stapled. I find binders to be too cumbersome to flip through. Just personal preference.

TCR is staple + tabbing.

I print it out and tab it, then put it into a slim binder that folds over backwards so I can read it easier. I can't staple it within the binders because i find that wayyy too annoying.

Print them out on both sides of the paper. Use three staples on the left margin to make it like a pamphlet.

These threads are becoming more and more OCD.

Are people really this helpless? Holy hell

I got fancy last year, three-hole punched them, and threw them into binders I got at Staples. After you're done you can pull out the outline, throw it away, and re-use the binder next semester.

Double-sided is a must. Then three hole punch and put in a cheap pronged folder. Binding for 25-50 cents! Make a table of contents and add tabs.

I don't have a printer, so I either use my roommates or go to the school. School charges 4 cents for one sided and 6 cents for double. HTH

wut? u mean u guys dont send them to fedex office to print in double-sided color and mini-spiral bind with clear plastic in front and black matte in back?

A 13" laptop has only so much screen real estate. I love being able to look down at a piece of paper instead of tabbing back and forth again and again.

You are able to access onenote during the exam? That's incredible. The test program we use locks our computer out of anything but that. Ctrl+F would be amazing.

You are able to access onenote during the exam? That's incredible. The test program we use locks our computer out of anything but that. Ctrl+F would be amazing.

Yea we are allowed to use anything as long as it's in a .docx file at the end. No cheating software or anything. After 1L we don't even have to take the exams in front of a proctor. We self schedule and just do them whenever you want.

It's nice but I'm slacking.

no proctor for us during 1L but we have to use the exam software so nothing can be open on the computer other than the software itself

For the first time this year, I've seen a handful of dooders at geedub with these 'thangs. BOSS.

Printed and stapled usually. For longer outlines I vary it by splitting the outline in two (when outline >25 pages). For open book exams (all exams this year open book), my outlines tend to be on the longer side.


I did use tabs on one outline this semester (first time). For the multiple choice portion of the fed tax exam, I wanted to be able to quickly reference sections of the outline if required. Otherwise, I generally just staple the paper together and just use the outline to study.

Double sided staple with tabs usually.
